We asked four AI assistants which Twitch clip tool to use, 400 times

ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude and Google's AI Overviews, 50 questions, twice each. Eklipse came up in 64% of the answers that didn't name a tool. Reelium came up in none of them.

Some people find Reelium through ChatGPT. Nearly all of them land on the homepage. My guess was that they already knew the name and asked about it. I wanted to know what the assistants tell a streamer who doesn't know the name — the one who just asks for a clip tool.

So I asked. ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude and Google's AI Overviews, 50 questions each, twice. 400 answers in all.

How I ran it

  • The questions came first. I wrote all 50 and committed them before asking anything, so I couldn't swap out the ones that went badly. They're at the bottom of this post.
  • They're the questions streamers type. Lowercase, half-formed, sometimes annoyed: "is there a clipper that doesn't charge $30/mo just to process one VOD?"
  • 47 never mention Reelium. Tool lists, how-tos, Kick questions, one in Spanish. The last 3 ask about Reelium by name.
  • Normal accounts, no history. ChatGPT logged out, Perplexity on a free account, Claude on my own account in incognito chats, Google with no account. 24 and 25 October 2026, from the UK.
  • Every question was answered twice by every assistant. None were dropped.

The result

Reelium was named in 0 of 376 answers to the 47 questions that don't mention it. Not once, on any assistant.

Ask about Reelium by name and it comes up in 24 of 24 answers, nearly all with a description. Of the 216 claims they made about it, 189 checked out. The assistants know what Reelium is. They don't think of it when a streamer asks for a clip tool.

It isn't the assistants answering from memory, either. All four searched the web on most questions.

Who they recommend

Share of the 376 answers that named each tool at all:

  • Eklipse: 64% (named first in 27%)
  • StreamLadder: 48% (named first in 6%)
  • OpusClip: 44% (named first in 11%)
  • CapCut: 39% (named first in 9%)
  • Twitch's own clip tools: 31% (named first in 16%)
  • Vizard: 20%

Every assistant named Eklipse more often than any other tool. Two odd results: ChatGPT recommended Powder in 1 answer in 10, and Powder has shut down. Google's overviews named Nexus Clips in 28% of their answers, mostly on the strength of YouTube videos.

What they read

The answers cited 1,585 sources. By kind:

  • competitors' own product pages: 42%
  • "best tools" lists written by a competitor: 26%
  • independent lists and reviews: 7%
  • YouTube: 6%
  • Reddit: 4%
  • Twitch's help pages: 4%
  • directories such as AlternativeTo and G2: 3%

That second line is the finding I keep coming back to. A clip tool writes "the best AI clipping tools", puts itself on the list, and the assistants cite the page. Some of those tools are as small as Reelium. Add the product pages and 68% of what the assistants read was written by a clip tool about clip tools. Only 7% was an independent list or review.

Each assistant has its habits:

  • ChatGPT reads tools' own product pages, plus Twitch's help pages.
  • Perplexity reads the most "best tools" lists, and Reddit.
  • Claude leans on Eklipse's blog, and reads directories like AlternativeTo more than the others do.
  • Google reads YouTube and Reddit.

When they did know Reelium

The most common mistake was ours. In 8 answers, ChatGPT and Google said the free plan gives four hours a month. It changed to an hour every week on 6 October. They were reading copies of our own pages saved before the change. Three answers also drew on reelium.io, a different company with the same name.

What I'm changing

  • One plain sentence in every page's structured data — the description search engines and assistants read — saying what Reelium is: a clip maker for Twitch and Kick streams.
  • A page written for AI assistants. /llms.txt is a plain-text summary of what Reelium does and costs, built from the same figures as the pricing page, so the two can't disagree.
  • Old facts fixed. Two blog posts, our SaaSHub listing and our LinkedIn page had old or wrong facts. They're corrected, and Google and Bing have been asked to read the site again.
  • Submitted where assistants look. Reelium is submitted to AlternativeTo, the directory Claude cites.

Progress is anything above zero. I'll ask the same 50 questions the same way around 22 November and post what comes back, whatever it is.
