How long Twitch keeps your VODs

Twitch does not keep your past broadcasts forever. It deletes them on a timer, and the length of that timer depends on what kind of account you have. If you clip from your own VODs, that timer is the deadline you are actually working against.

The three windows

• Standard accounts: 7 days.
• Affiliates: 14 days.
• Partners: 60 days.

There is a fourth case that catches people out: anyone with Turbo, or with Prime, also gets 60 days — regardless of whether they are a Partner. So a standard account held by someone with Prime keeps its broadcasts far longer than the 7-day figure suggests.

Why nobody can tell you the exact date

This is the part most guides skip. Twitch's API will tell an application whether a channel is a Partner or an Affiliate. It will not tell it whether that person has Turbo or Prime.

That means no tool — ours included — can work out the day a specific broadcast disappears. Anything that shows you a specific day is guessing, and it is guessing on the one variable it cannot see. What is genuinely knowable is how old a broadcast is and which window applies at minimum, so that is what we show and all we will claim.

What actually expires, and what does not

The timer applies to past broadcasts — the automatic recording of a stream. Clips and Highlights are stored separately and are not on the same clock. That distinction is worth understanding before a window closes, and we wrote it up in what survives when a VOD expires.
